Dhaka stands on the bank of the Buriganga. It is divided into two part-old town and new town. The old town processes gravity. Because the city of Dhaka originated here. Lalbagh, Chailkbazer, Bangshal, Islampur, Babubazer, Nababpur, Sadarghat, Marines, Warry, Shambazer, Gandaria, Sutrapur etc belong to the old town. The old town is usually congested. Reads here are narrow. The old town is mainly a business center. Besides, many historical places are there. The notable historical places are Ahshan Manjil, Lalbagh fort etc. The new town covers the rest of the areas of the city. Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Bahamian, Uttara, Baridhara, Motijheel etc are the main area of new Dhaka. Modern infrastructures are being constructed in the city of Dhaka.
