Mohammad Yunus was born in 1940 in Chittagong, the business Centre of eastern Bangladesh. He was a third of 14 children. Educated in Chittagong, he was awarded a full bright scholarship and he received his Ph. D from Vanderbilt University, in U.S.A in 1972 he becomes head of the economic department of Chittagong University. He is the founder and managing director the Grameen Bank. In 1997 professor Yunus organized the world first Micro Credit Summit in Washington D. C. Professor Yunus is an economist. He planed to alleviate poverty from the world. He introduces microcredit system among a limited number of poor people as his plan worked. Then he set a bank, Grameen Bank. Through the bank, he worked for the poor and give financial support to make them self-employed. His programmers succeeded and thousands of poor, powerless people escape from poverty. They trusted Yunus as a helping hand and he was trusted to be a famous name. his micro-credit brought wealth to the underprivileged of many nations.
